Hello, I had no thoughts worth writing down this week so instead I’m showing you some recent art from my sketchbook. It was snowing this Saturday so I decided to stay home and get down to one of 2 paintings that I’ve been meaning to paint for a month or so.
I added some details digitally and i’m not super pleased with how sketchy and rough the birds have turned out but I was going for unhinged, frenzied ravens so maybe its effective (Or maybe I need MORE birds?)
Below are 2 palette cleaners (leftover paints scooped into a painting!) I worked up after finishing the bird painting Weird how they’re so different despite coming from the same globs.
An update on that tree! It’s starting to get these weird wispy yellow/white things growing out of the branches. Watching closely to see if I can catch the first leaves.
Another little one from observation back home of my mum’s lily pond:
Above: Don’t be fooled I have zero interest in sports but my dad went to the Australian Open and took a photo that cropped into a yummy composition to do a little painting of.
I’m still slowly making my way through my graphic novel project and I think I’m finally starting to get the hang of colours. I’m so used to painting and letting colours smoosh into each other that filling colours into the lineart I’ve drawn in a largely flat-and-inside-the-lines kind of way has been very counterintuitive.
What is Fitting Indian?!
Is that tree a witch hazel?
